A Classic Black Pump is Golden

The classic black pump. Everyone has it. Everyone loves it. And these days, this shoe has been through some crazy alterations. A pointed black pump? Studded ones? The sky high platform pump? Whatever it may be, it is the most versatile shoe out there that can make an outfit absolutely dinner party ready.

Falling into Oxblood

The leaves are changing and Fall fashion is officially ready for oxblood colored anything and everything. From lips to shoes, this color has been in the spotlight since NY Fashion Week 2012 began.

But while I wish that heels can be a necessary staple here in Albany, it is not entirely a practical everyday item in a girl's closet. So for the gals ready to embrace this new fall color but who don't find the oxblood heel a necessary staple in their closet, a great oxblood lip can change that average t-shirt and jeans look into an A+ fashion forward outfit.

The oxblood trend may not work for everyone. But fear not because you can never go wrong with a sheer silk shirt and nude flats for the everyday work grind.

A KISS AND A POUT MAY JUST GET CARLY RAE CAUGHT IN A BIND

Carly Rae Jepsen's newest single recently came out and while its 80s vibe has got me dancing, I can't quite put my finger on this song. It's catchy enough to make me want to dance and sing along (not as much as 'Call me Maybe'), but there's something about it that drives me a bit crazy...

Maybe it's that 80's vibe that almost brings me back to my childhood where that time period was slowly turning into the little less grunge 90s. Can we say its a little bittersweet then? Not sure, but maybe the autotuned portions of this song has got me cringing just a little because singers are not real nowadays, but rather synthesized? Whatever the case may be, this song has inspired me to speak 80s fashion. Of course, it is still influential in the trends we see nowadays, so as I was maneuvering through my mother's closet, I came across an 80s inspired red studded blazer. Almost reminiscent of those Michael Jackson days when music was something not entirely synthesized.

And while the 80s was an era we either love or hate, I still get inspired by things flashy, gaudy, and a bit oversized.

Jason Wu, You've Grown Up and I Love It

Remember that infamous dress that Mrs. O wore to the inauguration? Yep...that's right...the one that rocketed Jason Wu's design career to a whole new level. Fashion stardom at its best...

It has been a few years since Jason Wu became a household name and he has since evolved in many different ways. He kicked off this season's NY Fashion Week with a style not quite demure...While he didn't completely steer away from his classic, sophisticated style, but he brought in that sex appeal that we often don't see in his collections. Until now. His Spring/Summer 2013 collection includes lots of lace, leather, and strappy pieces (S&M-esque?). His collection just got a bit edgier, but still remains sophisticated in all the right ways.

In an interview with NY Mag, Jason Wu's inspiration came from Helmut Newton's photography. He really explains that his focus was on the female body. Well, his show was a showstopper and he truly encapsulated that idea. All are such strong pieces that truly embodies the woman and her strength.

Your collection has truly got me spinning and I love it.

P.S. thank you for bringing back Carolyn Murphy.
