Je m'apelle Escargot

Albany may be incomparable to NYC, but it does have its ever-so-often, once in a while perk. Downtown Albany Restaurant Week has come to us like a man in shining armor for food lovers like moi. What began as a dreadful start to the week ended up in quite a wonderful surprise. A girls night out was much needed after sinking our eyes and souls into the world of kinetics, acids, and bases.

Destination: La Serre, a classy French restaurant wedged in the essence of downtown Albany where the busiest hours occur between 12pm and 6pm. Luckily, for a perfect Parisian escapade, schedule dinner past the 6pm mark.

For those who are unfamiliar with the delicacy of snails in the French culture, it is real and has been a truly enjoyed by Parisians for a while. And when you do go to a French restaurant, you have to try an authentic part of their culinary culture just for the true experience. This means tasting the snail! For those who are not a fan or have yet to try these little monsters are in for a treat at La Serre. The garlic sauce is an unexpected conglomeration of mysterious ingredients to form this creamy taste of perfection. While the sauce did not entirely mask the taste of escargot, it helped the newbies acquire the taste for them.

Je m'apelle escargot!
As much as we know what this plate is full of, it's an experience worth trying! Weird or not, it's part of the culture and experience. What's your choosing? To escargot or to not?
